Mr Joseph Perez is an orthopaedic upper limb consultant surgeon who offers comprehensive treatment for most medical conditions that can affect the musculoskeletal structures of the upper limb.

 

He carries out a full range of operative interventions on hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders. These include:

Mr Perez offers care that is closely integrated with hand therapists, physiotherapists, sports physicians, rheumatologists, neurophysiologists, anaesthetists and musculoskeletal radiologists.

Non Operative Treatments

Spotlight on certain common tendon problems 

Ultrasound-guided steroid injection with specialist shoulder physiotherapy. (Estimated cure rate about 90%).

De Quervain’s disease (baby wrist)

Tennis and other elbow tendinopathies

Ultrasound-guided steroid injection with hand therapy and splintage (Estimated cure rate about 70%)

Shockwave therapy has been shown to be an effective treatment, and this is increasingly being used to treat professional sportsmen and athletes. A course of three 5 to 10 minute non-invasive treatments is often the preferred option to a steroid injection or surgery. Stem cell injections can be offered as an alternative in selected cases (Estimated cure rate about 70%).
